The collision occurred when a tow truck crane intruded into the safety clearance of a narrow-gauge FEVE train on the Cartagena-Los Nietos route in Murcia. At the time, the train was carrying 16 passengers; at least six individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
